Shown in bronze is Oregon's beloved former Governor, Tom McCall. This dynamic politician was best known for passing the historical environmental protection bills that continue to keep Oregon clean and green.
The Tom McCall Memorial Committe, working with the Oregon Community Foundation made this monument possible by hiring Rip to create this iconic image of McCall wading through the Umpqua River, a fresh caught steelhead in one hand and his fly rod in the other. The sculpture is permanently installed along the bank of the Willamette River at Riverfront Park in Salem.
